Ford Press Release about the new Duratec. <- Click Here

Details of my engine fitting and modification. <- Click Here

The new ford engine features an all aluminum-alloy cylinder block and head, this give the engine an immediate advantage over the Zetec based units due to the bare engine weighing in at 93Kg as opposed to the 115Kg of the Zetec.

The Head is of high silicon content it has four valves per cylinder which are lifted by two silent chain driven cams, The tappets are mechanical and Ford states that they should require no adjustment during the life of the engine.
From My point of view I know that this engine will produce 185HP with no internal mods, it has a shorter stroke than its predecessor, which should make for a nice revving engine. POO had a curb weight of 741Kg according to Ford Data so by staying with a theme of lightness this engine mated to a type '9' box by an alloy bell-housing should help the weight distribution problem the Anglia’s inherently have.

NOTES: The Ford / Mazda Duratec HE engine does not use the common ford bell housing pattern an adapter plate or a new bell housing is required. The engine measures some 19 inches from front of the front pulley to the gearbox face, this measurement is about the same as the original engine however the measurement from bottom of sump pan to the top of the rocker cover is 25 inches which come to the top of the original 1200 air filter.
